As of 06 April 2020, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified additional 120 COVID cases in Singapore. This brings the total number of infected in the country to 1,309, with 569 active cases, 320 discharged and 6 deaths.
In the last two weeks, despite Singapore’s best efforts, number of new cases has been more than 50 per day. Yesterday, Singapore has seen its record daily spike of 120 COVID-19 cases.
In view of the latest developments, the Government will be implementing an elevated set of safe distancing measures to reduce the risk of increasing local transmission of COVID-19.
From 7 April 2020 till 4 May 2020, there will be a suspension of activities at workplace premises in Singapore. This is a circuit breaker, not a closure and this duration may be extended if necessary.
* Entities that are able to operate their business (in limited or full capacity) with their employees working from home should continue to do so. All other business, social or other activities that cannot be conducted through telecommuting or other means from home shall be suspended. Most physical workplace premises and retail outlets, except those necessary to support the daily living needs of the population will be closed.
* Essential services and their related supply chains & service providers are allowed to operate at their premises. These entities are required to submit details of their plans to operate with additional safe distancing measures in place by end of 13 April 2020.
GM&TS has submitted such request to the Ministry of Trade & Industry Singapore and received an email approval last night that we are allowed to operate BAU as per below approved manpower arrangement:
- Business Service team on duty up to 3 person – 1030 to 1600 Mon to Fri
- Rest of the team – maximum 2 person per day only for those having issues working from home or need to be in office urgently for some matter.
MOM will be doing spot checks to make sure the number of people in office does not exceed the permitted limit.
