Roscongress Foundation Chairman of the Board and CEO Alexander Stuglev held a meeting in Moscow with Director of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Eleonora Mitrofanova during which they discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in order to develop Russia’s economic and investment potential as well as strengthen its image on the world stage through the implementation of joint projects during multilateral international events with an economic focus organized by the Foundation.

“The forums organized by the Roscongress Foundation are the primary platforms in Russia for business development. In particular, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a global event that brings together roughly 17,000 participants from more than 140 countries each year. The Eastern Economic Forum and the International Arctic Forum are regional events that are essential to business development and a discussion of issues in the corresponding region. Roscongress has also been successful in holding industry events such as Russian Energy Week. All these events offer colossal opportunities for dialogue on themes concerning international development”, Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov said.

Stuglev said there is potential in the use of expert platforms for activities involving international humanitarian cooperation that aim to strengthen collaboration among Russian and foreign expert and scientific circles. “The Foundation offers unique infrastructure for exchanging information between representatives of the government as well as expert and business communities involved in formulating the content of forums. Our broad mission is to carry out foreign policy objectives to promote and position the interests of the Russian Federation at the international level and provide assistance in shaping a positive image of Russia and its foreign policy. We need to form a unified plan whereby specialists from the Foundation and Rossotrudnichestvo are able to implement numerous truly useful projects both for our country and for the international community as a whole”, Stuglev said.

Rossotrudnichestvo Deputy Director Mikhail Bryukhanov spoke about prospects for cooperation in facilitating international development and the feasibility of involving foreign centres of the Russian Federation in the promotion of the Roscongress Foundation’s activities. “The Agency and Roscongress will sign a cooperation agreement in the near future. The bulk of attention will be paid to information collaboration, joint efforts to prepare international events, and the promotion of a positive image of Russia abroad”, Bryukhanov said.

The meeting participants singled out international forums where they could work together as actively as possible since the agenda of their business programme is highly conducive to maintaining and developing a practical dialogue between governments and organizations. This list includes the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019, the Eastern Economic Forum, the ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ International Arctic Forum, the Russian Investment Forum, and Russian Energy Week.
