Results of the business trip to Singapore (July 24-25, 2017)

The Russian-Singapore Business Council executive structure – LLC RSTradehouse organized a business trip to the Republic of Singapore in the interests of the Rostec aviation cluster. From the Russian side the Aviation Service Center top-management representative of the holding company “Technodinamika”, one of the key centers for aircraft component maintenance in the European part of Russia, Dmitry Wenger as well as CEO of LLC RSTradehouse Sergey Pronin participated in the negotiations. The meetings were held to negotiate the following Singapore companies: Prescient Systems & Technologies, Asia Technical Services, Aircraft Support Industries and others. The main directions of cooperation in the field of aviation equipment component maintenance, exploitation of the airport and warehouse infrastructure, supplies of spare parts and repair of aircraft components and assemblies were discussed.

The key negotiations were conducted with the Singapore investment company Changi Airports International, which is involved in the financing and management of a range of the major airports around the world and is the largest international investor in the airport infrastructure. The forthcoming joint projects of the Technodinamika Aviation Service Center and Changi Airports International were discussed as well as the most attractive directions of a long-term partnership from the investment point of view were defined. Various areas of expertise and competencies in their field will allow the companies to complement each other in the projects of airport infrastructure development in the European part of Russia and in particular to reduce the cost of aircraft maintenance.

The Council executives held a meeting with the deputy director of the Singapore agency Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), which is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and in charge of the Singapore relations with its foreign partners at intergovernmental level (G2G). SCE is a center for transfer of the Singapore national development experience and provides the options of adaptation to specific regions in other countries. The forthcoming visits of the Russian Federation officials and the Eurasian Economic Commission representatives to Singapore for the exchange of experience in the digital economy development and formats for possible interaction in other spheres were discussed.

In addition, the meeting took place with the head of the project of Gribushin merchant family business revival Mr. Benjamin Dupal (Gribushin House Pte Ltd), who inter alia for a long time is a foreign adviser on energy, production and trade in several Singapore ministries.

During the negotiations the opportunities of the RSTrade platform (www.rstradehouse.com) were actively used to present the detailed information and materials on the Russian companies’ equipment profile and competencies. The Singapore party showed an interest in extension of presence on the platform. The companies have registered on the platform, which currently represents about 200 Russian and 100 foreign enterprises.

Official visit of the Russia-Singapore Business Council to Cambodia (July 20, 2017)

As a proxy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Russian-Singapore Business Council acting through the LLC RSTradehouse took part in a working meeting at the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The meeting was led by the Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia Ms. Tekreth Kamrang. In addition, on Cambodian side the departmental officers, in charge of the international trade, export-import operations and cooperation with the European region, along with the executives of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce member companies attended the meeting. LLC RSTradehouse was represented by CEO Sergey Pronin, Deputy-chairman – executive director of the Russian-Singapore Business Council. On the Russian side a representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Cambodia also participated in the event.

The discussion centered around the upcoming Russia-Cambodia Business Forum in Phnom Penh (a capital of Cambodia) scheduled for December 4, 2017. The parties exchanged information on the economy and market situations of the countries they represented. LLC RSTradehouse shared the key information on the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and also gave examples of Russian companies that have already expressed their intention to participate in the upcoming event and grow their business in Southeast Asia countries, including Cambodia.

On the Cambodian part, the keynote statement was the speech of Ms. Tekret Kamrang, who told about the Cambodia economy climate, its current social and infrastructure development. Among the most interesting areas of cooperation, according to the Ministry, she highlighted the construction and infrastructure development; tourism; agriculture; localization of production. In addition, various benefits for foreign investors to Cambodia, developed by the Cambodian Investment Council, were touched upon. The Deputy Minister emphasized the readiness of the government departments and agencies to cooperate with the EAEU member countries with the aim of the multilateral economic relations development and trade turnover increase. The Cambodian party considers the forthcoming Business Forum as a key step of this whole initiative. The representatives of several Cambodian companies entering the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce also spoke at the meeting expressing their wish that their products and services were correctly presented to potential EAEU partners.

IMG_5242-27-07-17-02-23The decision to hold the Business Forum in the first decade of December 2017 in Phnom Penh was confirmed. The format of the event will be specified and additionally agreed. In the current version it implies 1 day in the format of round tables and business sessions with the participation of the representatives of the EAEU and Cambodia official structures and business circles. It makes sense within the framework of the Business Forum to conclude a number of practical international business agreements and memorandums of understanding.

 

 

INNOPROM-2017 Exhibition

International industrial exhibition “Innoprom” is held in Yekaterinburg, Russia annually since 2010. In 2012 the government of Russia assigned the Federal status to the exhibition. This year the exhibition was held from 10 to 13 July. The topic was “Smart manufacturing”. The organizer was the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, general information partner and the operator of the press centre – Russian news agency TASS.

International industrial exhibition “Innoprom-2017”, according to some experts, has made a rapid leap forward for seven years. This applies to all aspects – from using the latest technologies to large-scale and diverse cultural program. The growing interest in the exhibition was confirmed at the very beginning of its work: for the first two days of the exhibition record 44 thousand people registered.

The INNOPROM exhibition has become the main export showcase of the Russian industry in recent years bringing together representatives of thousands of companies from all over the world. This year Japan became the event’s partner country.

The exhibition’s agenda includes ten major international conferences along with more than 100 specialized round-table discussions, industry seminars and presentations.

Stand of Japan, which acts as a partner country, has become the most original in the last few years among foreign countries, which presented their products at “Innoprom”.

One of the issue discussed during the roundtable in the framework of the exhibition was related to the creation of “smart city” in Russia. The cost of such creation in 100 major cities in Russia is estimated at $3 – $4.5 billion.

It is said that in 2018 the exhibition will appear in a new quality. It will be even more extensive and informative, with new records.

Russian scientists have developed a technology for the production of transparent aluminum

Specialists from National Research Nuclear University MEPhI together with colleagues from Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, Institute of Structural Macrokinetics and Problems of Materials Science and Institute of Metallurgy and Material Science named after A. A. Baykov have developed a technology to produce compacts from oxynitride aluminum (ALON). Article on this subject is published in “IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering” – Consolidation of Transparent ALON by Spark Plasma Sintering Methods. The article studies the prospects of spark plasma sintering of aluminum oxynitride, determines the optimum modes and parameters of compacting.

The developers claim that ALON can be used in several military and commercial applications, e.g., Windows and domes for spacecraft and outer transparent armor.

Moscow named among the top 5 of “smart” global megalopolises

Moscow has entered the top five largest cities that are ready to introduce “smart” technologies better than others. The Russian capital was overleaped only by Singapore, London, Shanghai and New York as stated in the report “The Future is Coming: Cities Readiness Rating” prepared by the PwC consulting firm.
As reported by PwC press office, Moscow has taken a leading position on the quality of virtual services for citizens, the level of infrastructure development as well as the open adaptive education and the digital economy. According to the survey, almost a half of the Moscow citizens (47%) are ready to introduce technological innovations.

Russia takes the 10th place in cybersecurity ranking

UN InternRussia takes the 10th place in cybersecurity rankingational Telecommunication Union (ITU) has published the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI), where Russia is ranked the 10th in terms of cybersecurity assurance.

The 1st place in the list goes to Singapore, the 2nd and 3d – the US and Malaysia. The rest of the top 10 were Oman at 4th, Estonia at 5th, Mauritius at 6th, Australia at 7th, while Georgia and France shared the 8th place and the 9th was taken by Canada.

The evaluation of computer security was carried out by five characteristics: legal, technical, organizational preparedness, readiness for cooperation, development of educational and research potential. By all these indicators, Russia took the 2nd place among the CIS countries yielding to Georgia.

Confederations Cup Russia 2017

The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 10th quadrennial international men’s football tournament organised by FIFA was ended in Russia. FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 was held from 17 June to 2 July 2017 in 4 Russian cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. It was the first time Russia has hosted the tournament and the third time the Confederations Cup has been held in the European continent.

The Cup final was played in Saint Petersburg between the teams of Germany and Chile. The winner was the national team of Germany, beating the national team of Chile with the score 1:0.

According to the statistics, 628.304 people visited 16 matches of the Confederations Cup 2017. This result is the third in the history of the tournament. The average attendance of the tournament amounts to 39.269 viewers.
