Post-release on the business mission of Russian aviation industry companies to Singapore

In February 2017, Russia-Singapore Business Council organized a business mission to Singapore for the Russian aviation industry companies. Russian Helicopters acted as the mission sponsors while Aeronavigation and Information Systems and YSAR+ were the business mission partners.

The RSBC managing company (RSTradehouse) represented in South and Southeast Asia the civil aerospace companies as Russian Helicopters, Aeronavigation and Information Systems, YUSAR +, BG-Optics, The State Scientific Research Institute of Civil Aviation, The Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation (MSTUCA), KRET, Intelсom line, Concern “Avtomatika”, Rosсongress Foundation and “Northern Capital Gateway” (Pulkovo airport). Round of events was arranged including visit to aerospace laboratories and R&D centers, aviation equipment and components associations, private and state production and distribution companies, also participation in the Aviation Festival Asia 2017. One of the results of the business mission is the draw of the promotion plan for Russian aviation products, technologies and services to Southeast Asia.

One of the most significant meetings was held with the executives of Aerospace Engineering and Transport department of the Economic Development Board – EDB. EDB has introduced a national strategy and master plan for the development of aviation industry in Singapore. Representatives of the Commission have expressed interest in developing cooperation in following directions: supply of equipment, joint research, and expansion of Singaporean and Russian companies in international industrial cooperation. EDB have assisted in organizing the meeting with the executives of ST Aerospace, AMTC, Singapore Polytechnic and Singapore Association of Aircraft Manufacturers.

Negotiations with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) led to decision on expansion of interaction between Singaporean and Russian companies, using the tools of electronic trade and service international B2B-platform RSTrade (www. rstradehouse.com). Russian companies meet the requirements of the South-East Asian market for goods and services. Decision to promote the platform as a convenient tool for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Singapore companies is based on the statements of the 7th meeting of the high-level Intergovernmental Commission Russian-Singapore, held in Singapore last November.

A ranking place in the mission took acquaintance with the infrastructure of scientific and applied research and engineering centers in Singapore. During a visit to the Singapore Center for 3D-printing (SC3DP) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) representatives of Russian industrial companies have expressed strong interest in the development of cooperation in training of personnel and in joint research. Participants of the mission explored research infrastructure of the Composite Centre and got insight into a number of projects on working materials technologies with prescribed properties. Considering the specifics of the mission, special attention was paid to acquaintance with the activity of the Air Traffic Management Research Institute, such as research in the field of air traffic management and saving resources during the flights.

Participants of the mission have also visited the Singapore Polytechnic, which trains technicians in the field of aerospace engineering and mechanics. In addition to tours of the laboratories and Aerohub showrooms, the possibilities of joint research and training on maintenance and repair of aircraft have been discussed. Another meeting was held in the Joint Research Centre of Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre companies. The parties have identified the potential of joint projects in the aviation industry.

Representatives of the RSTradehouse have held talks with the Indian company RayMach Technologies, in the interests of Russian industrial and engineering companies. In the course of this meeting, both parties have been identifying probable variants of cooperation with Russian enterprises.

ST Aerospace has presented the main directions of its activity during the meeting: operational management and maintenance of aircrafts, modernization, production and staff training. Singapore side has expressed outstanding interest to the new technologies of aviation equipment maintenance. In turn, Russian companies have focused on export-oriented product line.

During a meeting with KeyASIC Company, both parties have agreed to expand their partnership, especially regarding the supply of KeyASIC’s unique high-tech solutions to Russia.

At the site of the Association of Aerospace Industries Singapore at the airport Seletar were held negotiations with Aircraft Support Industries and Wah Son Engineering on the creation of joint ventures with Russian companies in the third countries.

Several meetings were held with regional aviation distributors: United Aviation Pte Ltd, Asia Technical Services Pte Ltd and Asteam Technology. Preliminary agreements have been reached on the start of cooperation in the IT, medicine, light engineering, site security and aviation industry. Among others, Singaporean companies announced putting its own products and services on RSTrade platform.

Through the numerous negotiations, Russia-Singapore Business Council also presented schedule of its major events for 2017, the nearest of which should be the annual international conference “Russia-Singapore Business Dialogue”, that will be held this April in Moscow.

Admittedly, results of the mission have exceeded expectations. It became an important stage in the development of export and import portfolios for national high-tech companies. International partners have got an insight about the possibilities of Russian manufacturing and service companies, have compared with its own proposals and needs. These results provide the basis not only for the simple expansion of trade turnover, but also for the development of international cooperation.
